Massage can be very beneficial in supporting your body and mind throughout the changes experienced during pregnancy. Receiving massage can benefit both mother and baby by aiding relaxation and releasing endorphins.
It can help in minimising any common discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backache, hip pain, and aching legs and feet. It can also help prepare your body for birth, and is a lovely way to connect with your baby.
My treatments are holistic, and are completely tailored to you. During your first appointment, we will have time for a consultation to discuss your health and general wellbeing, and I can include aftercare advice after each appointment to use between treatments.
The massage takes place in a supported side lying position, so you and your baby are comfortable, and can begin after 12 weeks.
During the third trimester I can give information on labour massage techniques for yourself and your partner to use. All oils used are organic.
After giving birth, you will still be experiencing a lot of changes both physically and emotionally. Receiving massage can be a great support. While being a new mum can be incredibly rewarding, it can also be challenging as you adjust, and your body recovers from giving birth. Massage can help alleviate any areas of pain and discomfort, and with symptoms of postnatal depression.
For the first few weeks after giving birth, massage can take place in a side lying position to make it more comfortable for you. If you have had a healthy delivery without major complications, you can begin treatments whenever you feel ready. If you have had a caesarean-section, treatments can usually begin after 6 weeks after consulting your doctor
